Dr. John Beck, DVM

Dr. Beck was born and raised in Victoria. He grew up on his family farm on Salem Road where he and his family raised sheep, chickens, cattle, horses, etc. After high school, Dr. Beck went to Texas A&M University for his undergraduate work and graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education.

Upon graduation, Dr. Beck began working for the Extension Service of Liberty County where he was very involved in the local 4-H clubs. Two years later, Dr. Beck made the decision to apply for the College of Veterinary Medicine. He was accepted into the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine in 1979 and graduated in August of 1982.

He returned to Victoria and purchased Hillcrest Animal Hospital from Dr. Phillips. After two years of practicing at the location on Main Street, Dr. Beck moved the practice to its current location on John Stockbauer Drive. He has been successfully growing his practice in this location since 1985. His favorite areas of study are orthopedic surgery, dermatological cases, and exotic animals.

Dr. Beck loves all animals, including wildlife. In his spare time, he likes working on his ranch, where he raises horses and cattle. He has two wonderful children, Laurie and John, and three grandchildren, Jack, Molly, and John W. Beck IV (Liam). He is a board member for the local Rotary Club, a board member for the Victoria Electric Co-Op Board of Directors, and a board member of the South Texas Farm and Ranch Show. He is also a longtime member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA), American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), Golden Crescent Veterinary Medical Association (GCVMA), Texas Cattleman’s Association, and the Texas Wildlife Management Association.

Dr. Beck is also a member of the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, C of C Ambassadors, and Hope of South Texas.

Dr. Beck is a very respected member of the community and strives for excellence in every aspect of his professional and personal life.

Marcy

Bookkeeper

Marcy has lived in Victoria all of her life. She came to Hillcrest Animal Hospital in early 2018. Her love of working with numbers AND animals is the perfect fit for her! She enjoys cooking, gardening, reading and decorating & has a passion for animal rescue. Marcy shares her home with her three rescue dogs – Winnie, Bessie & Winston. She leads a simple and serene life with her fur babies…just the way she likes it!

Deanna

LVT, Lead Technician

Deanna is a native Victorian, graduating from Industrial High School in 2004 and then went on to attend the Vet Tech Institute of Houston where she received an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. Deanna began her veterinary career at Hillcrest in July of 2012. She has two sons, Gavin and Ryder, and numerous fur babies. Her one true hobby is reading and finds nothing more enjoyable or comforting than getting sucked into a great book.

Destani

BS-Biology-Veterinary Technician

Destani was born and raised in Victoria and is a graduate of Victoria East High School. In 2019 she graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Biology. After graduation, she took a position working at the Internationl Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Ft. Worth, TX. She is now enrolled in the Veterinary Technology course through Penn Foster. She spends her time at home caring for her rescues, Dutchess, Todd and Peaches.

Madison

BS- Ag Science-Vet Technology -Veterinary Technician

Just down the road in Hallettsville, Madison grew up on a farm with a vast variety of animals/livestock. Once graduating high school, she attended Texas A&M University- Kingsville. She was admitted into the Veterinary Technology program and obtained a bachelor’s in Agricultural Sciences- Veterinary Technology and a minor in Animal Science in 2020. Soon after, she joined the Hillcrest team. Madison married a local guy, Jake Wallace, in 2021. They are the proud owner of multiple dogs, cats, livestock, and poultry.

Allexus

Tech Asst./Kennel Tech.​​​​​​​

She was born in Columbus, TX, and raised in Hallettsville, TX. Allexus completed the Veterinary Technician Assistance course at Victoria College in July of 2019 and obtained a position at Hillcrest Animal Hospital in 2020. She has multiple pets including dogs, cats, ducks, and chickens. In her free time, she likes to relax with a good book or ride horses.

Kim

Receptionist/Admin. Asst.

Kim was born in Kansas and moved to Victoria in 2004. She married her husband Brad and has two daughters, Chloe and Olivia. They have a GSD named Xena-Wena and a new puppy named Auri. She enjoys spending her free-time reading and playing outside with the kids and the dogs. Her passion for all animals makes her an awesome fit for our Hillcrest team!

Julianna

Kennel Tech/Admin. Asst.

Julianna started her career at Hillcrest in 2022. She has three children and dogs Clifford, Chloe, and others. She has had a love for animals since she was a young child. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys fostering pets when she can. Julianna says working at Hillcrest is her “dream job”. We are very happy to have her.

Desiree

Administrative Asst.

Desiree was born and raised in Victoria where she graduated from Memorial High in 2005. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. Desiree spent years in the world of Cosmetology making others beautiful, now she makes Hillcrest beautiful. She has multiple dogs and cats that she loves to spend her down time with.

Darla

BS - Animal Science, Business Manager

Darla was raised in Pearland TX, she graduated high school in 2016 and received her Certified Veterinary Assistant. She then went on the Blinn College where she received her Associates degree in Agriculture. She then transferred to Texas A&M University Kingsville where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and a minor is business. Darla just recently moved to Victoria and started here in August of 2022. She is the proud owner of three dogs Cali, Gracie, and Rush.

Breana

Tech Assistant

Breana was raised in League City, TX, graduated high school in 2017 then moved to College Station, TX, and began school at Texas A&M University in the fall of 2017. She studied Biomedical Science and Animal Sciences while working at the TAMU Large Animal Teaching Hospital. Currently, she is enrolled in an online program to receive her LVT and plans on finishing her bachelor’s degree online. Breana moved to Victoria in August of 2022 with her fiancé, and they got married in September of 2022. Breana and her husband are proud owners of two dogs.

Sarah

CVA, Kennel Technician

Sarah is a high school senior at Victoria East High School and will be graduating in May 2023. She will be attending Victoria College to play volleyball; she plans to pursue an Associates of Science and will further her education after that at a university level. While a member of the FFA program at Victoria East and serving within her church, she works at Hillcrest part-time. In her free time, she enjoys taking care of her two fur babies, Pickles an Stevie, as well as reading books. She was recently certified as a CVA and plans to continue pursing her certifications until she is an LVT.

Bailey

Vet Technician

Bailey moved to Victoria in 2018 and married her husband, Noah. Together they adore their four cats, Pluto, Goose, Raven, and Cadet. Their Corgi, Nugget, also keeps them on their toes and fills their life with laughter. Bailey has a special place in her heart for neonatal kittens and puppies. She’s also an avid lover of all things fluffy, scaley and feathery. She enjoys furthering her education each day in the Veterinary field. In her free time if not spent with family and friends, Bailey is reading, creating art and crafting. She and her husband look forward to welcoming a baby girl in May 2023.
